Itinerary
- Meet in Oaxaca and enjoy dinner with your group
- Stroll through the exciting city of Oaxaca, taking in markets, museums, and historic sights.
- Travel to the ancient Zapotec city of Monte Albán.
- Take a dip at Aguas Hirvientes, visit a local weaver’s cooperative and the oldest tree in the Americas (2,200 years old).
- Travel to the Chayotepec Fair Trade coffee community, with stops and hikes along the way
- Try your hand at coffee harvesting with local families. Spend the evening telling stories and sharing music.
- Start the morning with a refreshing hike and learn about the natural history of the region. Spend the afternoon making tortillas & roasting coffee.
- Travel to El Porvenir, hiking along natural river beds and then explore coastal Zapotec cities
- Swim in the warm waters of the Pacific or relax in a hammock by the sea
- Return to Oaxaca

Costs
$1,500 (no applicable taxes)
Trip Cost includes:
- All ground Oaxaca, most meals, accommodations (8 nights at double occupancy), knowledgeable and bilingual local guides, all activities, and entrance to historic sites
- Gold Standard carbon offset for air and ground travel and support of local environmental projects. We encourage participants to reduce their carbon emissions in Canada.
- A Reciprocity Fund to enable representatives from Fair Trade producer communities to visit Canada.
- Contribution to the administration costs for JUDES and educational activities on Fair Trade.

We specialize in smallgroup travel and ask participants to attend a predeparture orientation session. This session will provide you with essential travel information, health and safety information, basic Spanish phrases, information on the region & Fair Trade, and a chance to get to know fellow travelers. We are partnered with Odyssey Travel, which provides travel support for our participants.

UCIRI (a Fair Trade co-operative) and Chayotepec (one of UCIRI’s coffee producing communities) have invited JUDES to be a Canadian partner in this community-based tourism initiative, which provides additional community-economic development for the region.
